Why get a job when Obama offers 2 years jobless insurance, food stamps, Medicaid, disability and various  tax credits even for having  more children.

In Feb. 2013 nearly 1/2 million left the civilian work force.  The retired, quit working, went back to school or gave up looking for work.

“Obama[s tax and welfare policies shrink the workforce precisely when we need more workers to pay for the entitlements Obama does not want to reform” says the Wall Street Journal April 6-7, 2013.

What can we do? Work for education reform.    Support charter schools  which offer better education at three-quarters the cost.  Support vouchers so that state education  money follows the child and parents choose what is best for their children.  Our failing public education system does not give young people the skills they need to compete in the information economy.

 

Is it a bird? A plane? Or is it a flying, carrot dispensing machine?

Obama-Care’s individual mandate penalties –what you pay if you don’t buy government approved health coverage— are best described as a flying, freebie carrot dispensing machine. With pilot Obama at the controls.

Obama will turn the individual mandate penalties into carrots which he dispenses free to all whom Obama decides cannot afford.

So, remember the motto of the Scouts: Be Prepared! How? Know the history and know what Obama’s next step is likely to be.

History: Is it a fine? At first, the Obama administration defended the Obama-Care individual mandate as a “fine”. This argument is weak as the Supreme Court could reject this expansion of the Commerce Clause as without precedent and limitless. If not to act is an act ,what other acts can government demand? That is not a path the Supreme Court is likely to go.

Is it a tax? Currently Obama’s lawyers, now before the Supreme Court, defend the individual mandate as a “tax”. And much as people moan about taxes they are commonly viewed an inevitable as death.

But remember Obama’s campaign promise: no increase of taxes for the middle class making less than $250,000. So, Obama needs to call the individual mandate something else.

So Obama will frame the individual mandate as neither fish nor fowl – neither fine nor tax. Then Obama will mandate it as something given free to all whom he deems cannot afford it.

All good things are free according to Obama. Hence, the cost of Obama-Care must be free to those who Obama thinks can ill afford it: youth, those receiving unemployment benefits, Food Stamp recipients, those who pay no federal taxes.

Can’t you hear Obama’s speech:

I, President Obama, mandate that the initial cost for health care is free to all who cannot afford it. This is only fair.

If you are a youth 18-25 and never had a job? It’s free….

If you lost your job and have not yet found another one? It’s free.

And for those who are on Food Stamps and can show that they are looking for a job? It’s free.

And if you already do not pay federal income tax, you should not be further burdened.

Let’s review just a few of the fraudulent food stamp events that have been uncovered recently.

In the Polk County, Iowa jail 30 percent of inmates were collecting food stamps that were being mailed to their non-jailing addresses. These prisoners are exempt from prosecution because the food stamp form failed to ask if they were in the slammer.

Last December two veteran employees for New York City’s Human Resource Administration were busted for concocting 1,500 fake food stamp cases that netted them 8 million dollars.

The food stamp poster boy for the year is 50 year old Leroy Fick. Mr. Fick won the Michigan lottery and collected two million smackeroos. Why is he continuing to receive and cash in food stamps?

Get this – the Michigan Department of Human Services ruled that if he had elected monthly payments, that would be income but by choosing a lump sum payment the winnings were considered assets and aren’t counted in determining food stamp eligibility.
