Better to call the cops or buy a gun?
Law enforcement agencies turn to immigrants to fill their ranks and connect with an increasingly diverse population.
Most agencies in the country require officers or deputies to be U.S. citizens.  Some however  now allow  immigrants who are legally in the country to wear the badge. From Hawaii to Vermont, agencies are allowing green-card holders and legal immigrants with work permits to join police ranks.
According to the Executive Office of Immigration Review, the number of people who did not show after being released on bond or on their own recognizance grew by 153 percent in the last four years.
