Firenze Sage: TSA could not find it… [woman lawyer boards plane with loaded gun]

TSA fails again
A 65-year-old woman lawyer was arrested for carrying a loaded handgun aboard an American Airlines jet at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.

Kenney carries a handgun for protection but had forgotten that it was in a computer bag she carried on board the plane.

Screeners at a security checkpoint had detected a gun in a woman’s carry-on bag but she “picked up the bag and left the checkpoint before the screening process was over,” said Greg Soule, a spokesman for the Transportation Security Administration, which operates the checkpoints. When TSA screeners spot a gun in a bag, they are supposed to seize the bag and notify police, he said.

Officials got a photo of Kenney from a closed-circuit video system and showed it to airport employees. She was taken into custody by DFW Airport police about an hour and 40 minutes later, Soule said.

Kenney was removed from Flight 2385,
scheduled to fly to Houston’s Bush Intercontinental Airport. The flight, with 128 passengers, was delayed for just over an hour and passengers were screened again before the plane took off, American Airlines spokesman Tim Smith said.

Francesco Schettino, captain of the doomed Costa Concordia that partially sunk on Friday, said he did not abandon ship, according to a transcript published by Italy’s Corriere della Sera newspaper and reported by the Associated Press.

“I did not abandon a ship with 100 people on board … the ship suddenly listed and we were thrown into the water,” Schettino reportedly said during a recorded telephone conversation with Capt. Gregorio De Falco of the Italian coast guard in Livorno.

The transcript also showed the coast guard official urgently commanding the captain to return to the cruise ship after he had abandoned it.

“You go on board! Is that clear? Do you hear me?” the Coast Guard officer shouted as Schettino sat safe in a life raft and frantic passengers struggled to escape the listing ship. “It is an order. Don’t make any more excuses. You have declared ‘Abandon ship.’ Now I am in charge.”

The captain of the Costa Concordia ordered dinner for himself and a woman after the ship struck rocks off Italy’s coast, a cook from the ship told a Filipino television station.

In an interview with GMA Network, cook Rogelio Barista said Capt. Francesco Schettino ordered dinner less than an hour after the accident.

“We wondered what was going on. … At that time, we really felt something was wrong. … The stuff in the kitchen was falling off shelves and we realized how grave the situation was,” Barista told GMA.

Schettino ordered dinner around 10:30 p.m. Friday, Barista said. Authorities say the ship struck the rocks at 9:41 p.m.

Firenze Sage: It gets sillier and sillier … [Couger as name for sports team not OK]

Couger
The Couger name for a sport team is not OK says a school. Why? Because ‘couger’ refers to older women who prefer younger men. Corner Canyon High School hasn’t even opened yet, and it’s already facing controversy.

The new school, scheduled to open in 2013 in Draper, Utah, announced this week that it had chosen its mascot and school colors.

According to KSTU-TV, future students within the school’s boundaries were mailed ballots to vote for the sports teams’ colors and mascot. The colors navy, silver and white were selected and the Charger was named the mascot — the first in Utah to use it.

The Chargers was not the most popular team name with the kids. The most popular name was the Cougars, getting 23 percent of the votes. Other choices included the Chargers, Diamondbacks, Falcons, Raptors, Broncos, Bears and Cavaliers.

But the Cougar was rejected as the mascot.

Why?” Because board members decided it might be seen as offensive to middle-aged women. [For those who are not in the know, a couger is an older woman who gets a younger man.]

Pedophiles are labeled "disabled persons" by Greek govt.

The Greek government has just recognized pedophiles as a population of the “disabled,” entitled under law to governmental disability compensation and added to the country’s welfare roll. The children who are the victims of those pedophiles evidently are not.

Pedophiles are not the only folks being added to the growing lists of those who may enjoy free handouts and disability income from the Greek government. (Notice I did not say benefits “paid for by the Greek taxpayer,” since so much of the Greek national budget is not covered by them these days.)

Exhibitionists and kleptomaniacs were also just added to the welfare roll list that already includes pyromaniacs, compulsive gamblers, fetishists and sadomasochists. Under the new Greek “disability” rules and categories, pedophiles will get larger welfare checks than people who have undergone organ transplants. Peeping Toms will enjoy a higher level of support than diabetics.

Aptos Psychologist: Obama’s federal agency NOAA which protects whales is no Noah’s Ark …

Obama federal agency NOAA is no Noah’s Ark. Noah’s Ark was built by one man and his sons and it preserved animal life (two of every animal, bird, species) until it was safe to go to land. In contrast, though pronounced the same as Noah, the NOAA — which protects whales — tell people that they cannot use the ocean for work or play. In Monterey Bay NOAA has pressed criminal charges against a woman biologist for feeding large fish (whales0 and fined jet ski users protecting and saving lives of surf board users. Democrat Sam Farr refused to come on KSCO 1080 radio. Farr will not speak out against NOAA. Why? Sam Farr Democrat votes the Democratic ticket nearly 100 percent of the time. Is it time to replace Sam Farr with a citizen patriot — someone such as Big Tree Lumber ?? — someone who will go to Washington for 2 years and pass the job on to another citizen patriot? Contact DrCameronJackson for any names of possible citizen patriots in Monterey or Santa Cruz counties. Put a sign on your car telling Sam Farr what YOU want in terms of use of Monterey Bay, the beaches and the ocean.

NOAA federal agency that oversees whale protection is no Noah's Ark
NOAA federal agency that oversees whale protection is no Noah's Ark

Obama’s federal agency NOAA is no Noah’s Ark.

Pronounced like Noah, the federal agency NOAA stands for National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Agency. NOAA’s funding is authorized by the Department of Commerce.

Per how NOAA recently acts as judge, jury and prosecutor against people using the resources of Monterey Bay — huge fines for jet ski users and criminal charges against a biologist for feeding large fish — it may be the right time that the public jerked NOAA’s funding to a standstill?

Interestingly, Democrat congressman Sam Farr refuses to comment on NOAA and has refused to go on a local radio program, KSCO 1080 radio, to discuss NOAA.

Sam Farr is the same Democrat congressman who, when he held four Town Meetings on health care, stated at the beginning that he was there to tell the public that he was going to vote for Obama Care. Sam Farr was not there to listen – he was there to tell the public what he was going to do.

Let’s look at the considerable differences between Noah’s Ark and NOAA’s Mission:

You know the Biblical story: Under God’s direction, Noah built an Ark and put on board two of every kind of animal. When the world flooded, the animals were safe on board the high seas until, finally, a little bird brought back a leaf. The leaf signaled to Noah that land was near and life could go on. And God gave to people the rainbow as a sign that never again would God flood the earth with water.

Today we have NOAA to save the animals, fish, birds and everything from the bottom of the sea all the way to the sun. What a huge charge. And what huge powers turned over to Obama’s political appointees who run NOAA.

Note that NOAA operates under the Commerce Department.
According to the 1942 Supreme Court case of Wickard v Filburn, the Commerce Department can set quotas forbidding a farmer to grow wheat used for his own consumption.

It is that same Supreme Case – Wickard v Filburn — that President Obama will use to defend Obama-Care’s mandate that all individuals must purchase health insurance.

This is the Mission Statement listed on NOAA’s website:
“NOAA’s mission is to understand and predict changes in the Earth’s environment, from the depths of the ocean to the surface of the sun, and to conserve and manage our coastal and marine resources.”

Below is information from the NOAA web site stating that NOAA has fined boat owners for exceeding 10 MPH rule NOAA imposed.

How best to rein in NOAA’s power? Cut off their funding. Re-write their Mission statement.

Santa Cruz and Monterey need a Citizen Patriot to replace Democrat Sam Farr. Who might be that citizen patriot? Send suggestions to: DrCameronJackson@gmail.com

Three vessels charged with violating Right Whale ship strike reduction rule pay penalties
Speed restrictions in seasonal management areas reduce risk of death to endangered whales
January 10, 2012

Right whales
Three large commercial vessels who were assessed civil penalties this fall for violating seasonal speed limits designed to protect one of the most endangered whale species in the world have paid their penalties in full. Cases against six other vessels for the same offense are still open.
The ship strike reduction rule, enacted in December 2008, restricts vessels of 65 feet or greater to speeds of 10 knots or less in seasonal management areas along the East Coast to reduce the chances of North Atlantic right whales being injured or killed by ships.
Notices of Violation and Assessment (NOVAs) were issued Nov. 21 by the NOAA Office of General Counsel’s enforcement section to owners and operators of vessels that allegedly traveled multiple times through the seasonal management areas at speeds well in excess of the 10 knots allowed under the regulations.
The alleged violations occurred between November 2009 and January 2011 outside of New York City; Charleston, S.C.; Brunswick, King’s Bay and Savannah, Ga.; and Mayport, Fla.
One vessel was charged with 16 counts of speeding. Vessels’ documented speeds ranged from 13 to 18 knots, and the vessels traveled these speeds for as many as 26 nautical miles.

Right whale and calf
Each count in the NOVAs was assessed at $5,750, resulting in total penalty assessments ranging from $11,500 to $92,000. None of the vessels receiving NOVAs had prior violations.
The owners and operators had 30 days to respond either by paying the penalty, seeking to have it modified, or requesting a hearing.
Compliance with this rule is critically important for preventing right whale extinction. Ship strikes are the leading source of human-caused mortality for right whales, and together with entanglements in nets, are slowing the recovery of this critically endangered species.
Biologists believe that there are as few as 396 right whales left in the North Atlantic Ocean. Right whales are protected by the Endangered Species Act of 1973 and the Marine Mammal Protection Act of 1972. The death of even one whale can be devastating to the right whale population. NOAA estimates that a female right whale will need to give birth to four healthy calves over her lifetime to successfully replace herself within the population.
The mission of NOAA’s Office of Law Enforcement is to ensure compliance with the laws and regulations enacted to conserve and protect our nation’s marine resources. To report a suspectedF violation, contact Enforcement’s national hotline at 1-800-853-1964.

Aptos Psychologist: NOAA & citizens — Govt overreaches and congressman Sam Farr from CA silent on NOAA fines for feeding whales and using jet skis in Monterey Bay

Sam Farr congressman has no comment re NOAA fines CA biologist & jet ski use to save surfers
Sam Farr congresman from CA has no comment re NOAA fines for biologist and jet ski use to save surfers

Federal agency National Oceanographic & Atmosphere Administration (NOAA) recently pressed criminal charges and has levied huge fines against a nationally known biologist for feeding large fish.

Also, NOAA recently levied enormous fines — which keep going up — against two persons using jet skis to save surfers in Monterey Bay.

The overall issue is that a federal agency (NOAA) under Obama and with the blessing of local congressman Sam Farr now controls access of the public to use of Monterey Bay. Do you accept this control?

Because the jet ski users are contesting the charges, NOAA’s response has been to double and triple the fines. Per discussion by Dr. Bill on radio 1080, NOAA is acting as judge, jury and prosecutor and not allowing any defense.

Sam Farr, congressman for the Monterey and Santa Cruz, CA area, refused to come on a local radio show Saturday, Jan. 14 and discuss his views of NOAA and the legal charges against people using the Monterey Bay for work and play. Sam Farr’s office likewise did not contact the radio station. Farr’s offices were contacted repeatedly without success.

“Put a sign on your car, in your window and on a telephone pole telling Sam Farr what you want” says Dr. Bill on 1080 Radio. “Or just write, Sam Farr — Farr Out!”

NOAA’s senior positions are filled with political appointees who push for the political agenda of the current administration. Dr. Bill refers to NOAA as the “green Gestapo”.

Per the 1080 radio show Jan. 11, 2012 NOAA spent millions of Obama Stimulus money on a new building close to the beach at Asilomar CA state park in Monterey, CA. NOAA will not permit any non-native plants in the area and has built a building which, to put it mildly from the comments of listeners to the raido show, does not blend into the environment. Check out the NOAA building next time you drive along the Asilomar state beach beach in Monterey.

Aptos Psychologist: huge ideological & economic policy choices for 18-30 yr olds registered as Repubicans in 2012 compared with no choice from Democrats

Young people age 18 – 30 care about what the two political parties offer: Republican Party 2012 primaries offer much more ideologican and economic program choice that the one flavor, one size fitss all Democratic Party which offers Obama, Obama-Care, higher taxes and more regulations in all areas. Not a tough choice for young people to make! DrCameronJackson@gmail.com

Big choices in ideology & economic plans from Republican versus one Democratic/ Obama flavor
Big choices in ideology & economic plans from Republicans versus one Democratic flavor

So will the 18-30 year olds registered either as independents or as Democrats switch their registration to Republican so they have a voice in the 2012 primaries? Possibly, probably and highly likely.

So, pay attention when your adult children — which happened to me — or their same age friends ask you about Ron Paul and ask who you are supporting in the Republican primary. Clearly from their point of view the Republican primaries are the only game in town. And they are right.

Young people ages 18-30 get real ideological choice if they do switch and register as Republicans.

Look at the lack of choice that the Democrat Party offer young people ages 18-30 in 2012: more Obama, Obama-Care health care costs soar in 2012, higher taxes loom as the deficit has tripled under Obama, the continuation of a sluggish economy, more socialist /progressive/liberal policies that Democrat politicians know better than voters and Obama’s continuing rhetoric that blames the job producers with income over 200,000.

And, wow, wonder of wonders …. the 18 to 30 year old youth are going for ‘old man’ Ron Paul — the most consistently conservative of all the contenders still in the running.

Gov. Perry with his Opps! and could not remember agencies he’d like to axe suggests that fiscal chopping of the federal government may not be his highest priority. Mitt Romney has an economic plan with 58 + things that are tough to remember. Newt Gingrich believes he is the obvious person as he is the best debater and has a decent history balancing budgets. The one woman dropped out. The one Black contender dropped out.

All this said — there are lots of choices and the Republican contenders are definitely defining who they are.

Unlike 2008 there are real choices ideologically and in terms of experience between the various candidates. Thank goodness. One can just hope that the Republican contenders will keep their eye on the ball — what Obama has done wrong and why his policies have failed and what they can offer that has a proven track record. Newt Gingrich balanced the budget for several years in a row. Gov. Perry’s state of Texas has attracted workers and created jobs more than most states. And so on. There’s real choice out there in 2012 offered by the various Republican candidates.

I disagree with the position below that Republicans should target their message to a particular group. In my view, the best that the Republicans can do is to be honest in what their positions are and true to the values that started America.

See below for a different view which I think will always fail because it is inherently manipulative. You decide and comment. written by DrCameronJackson@gmail.com

By MARGARET HOOVER
As the Republican field jockeys for position in the 2012 presidential primaries, it is no surprise to hear the candidates trying to bolster their authority by invoking the name of Ronald Reagan. Yet one critical demographic group will not automatically respond to Reagan’s name: Young voters of the millennial generation, so named because they are the first to come of age in the new millennium.

The oldest members of this generation were just 8 years old when Reagan left office, so Republican candidates can’t assume that invoking his name will win them over. But the eventual Republican nominee should strive to emulate the Gipper by finding a way to connect conservatism to this rising generation of voters.

Reagan brought an entire generation to the Republican Party in 1980, and in 1984 he won the youth vote by 20%. The GOP needs this kind of revolution again if it hopes to recapture the White House and create a sustained majority.

The millennials—born between the beginning of the Reagan era and the end of the Clinton presidency—are the largest age group in America today, numbering approximately 80 million. There are 17 million more millennials than Baby Boomers and 27 million more than Generation Xers (ages 31-45). Millennials voted two-to-one for Barack Obama and also broke hard for John Kerry in 2004—and partisan identification typically solidifies after three presidential election cycles. Thus the next presidential election is critical. Republicans have 16 months to make their case before millennials cast the vote that could make them Democrats or independents for the rest of their lives.

To have any chance at winning young Americans over in 2012, Republicans must understand what makes millennials tick. While it’s risky to generalize about an entire demographic group, here are three important characteristics of the millennial profile:

• Millennials have been hit worse by the Great Recession than any other age cohort. Fully 37% of millennials are unemployed or underemployed, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The Republican nominee should make the case directly to millennials that President Obama’s policies are perpetuating generational theft, while worsening the chances for job creation.

CloseMartin Kozlowski
.Since President Obama took office the deficit has more than tripled and the debt has skyrocketed. Every dollar Mr. Obama has borrowed or spent is a dollar millennials are going to have to pay back in the years ahead, in the form of higher taxes, a more sluggish economy, or both. Republicans can stress that while the Obama presidency has darkened the fiscal future, they have put forward solutions (such as the budget authored by Rep. Paul Ryan) to jump-start the economy and salvage the safety net for millennials.

But when talking about the administration’s failed economic policies, Republicans have to be careful not to try to demonize the president himself: 55% of millennials remain fond of him personally, according to a poll published in March by the Harvard Institute of Politics.

• Millennial politics are pragmatic, not ideological. This demographic group includes a higher number of independents (38%) than any other generation, followed by Democrats (37%) and Republicans (22%), according to Pew Research Center findings published in 2010. The millennials’ overwhelming support for Barack Obama in 2008 was a reflection of Republican brand damage, rather than an endorsement of big-government liberalism. Consider that 40% of millennials call themselves moderate and don’t favor an activist role for government in helping the poor, according to Pew.

Millennials were obviously drawn (as were huge numbers of other voters) to Mr. Obama’s campaign rhetoric that challenged Americans to rise above partisanship and help make government work. But since he took office, his administration has steered a leftward course, and government remains gridlocked. Moreover, the president’s propensity to demagogue the issues in order to outmaneuver his opponents has undermined the credibility of his promise to set childish things aside.

In turn, millennials have shown signs of disappointment: For one thing, fewer of them showed up to vote in 2010 than did in the previous midterm election of 2006.

And while they still like the president personally, his job-approval ratings among millennials have dropped by 18 percentage points since January 2009. He has not delivered on his promise of post-partisan change and has even contributed to the kind of demagoguery that millennials dislike.

Republicans therefore have a golden opportunity to win back millennials by articulating positive and pragmatic solutions to issues that affect them—starting with job creation, spending reform, entitlement reform and education reform.

• Millennials are the most diverse and least traditional generation in America. They are 40% nonwhite, have the highest number of single-parent households, and are the least affiliated with organized religion. They are also the only demographic group of which a majority supports same-sex marriage.

In order to win this generation over, Republicans need to minimize their emphasis on social issues and focus instead on jobs, jobs and jobs. The party should also showcase its significant ethnic and gender diversity in the wake of the 2010 elections, when the GOP put three female governors and two Hispanic governors in office. It also has two Indian-American governors, and it has fielded female and African-American presidential candidates. The Republican Party, in other words, is no longer a party of elderly white men.

With a focus on positive, pragmatic alternatives to the tried-and-failed policies of the Obama administration, Republicans have a chance to win back the youth vote. But the party will have to make a persuasive case that it offers the hope and change millennials have been waiting for.

Ms. Hoover is author of “American Individualism: How a New Generation of Conservatives Can Save the Republican Party,” out this month from Crown.

When the companies that supply motor fuel close the books on 2011, they will pay about $6.8 million in penalties to the Treasury. This is because they failed to mix a special type of biofuel into their gasoline and diesel as required by law.

But there was no biofuel to be had. Outside a handful of laboratories and workshops, the ingredient, cellulosic biofuel, does not exist.
