There are slightly more than three trillion trees in the world, a figure that dwarfs previous estimates, according to the most comprehensive census yet of global forestation.
Using satellite imagery as well as ground-based measurements from around the world, a team led by researchers at Yale University created the first globally comprehensive map of tree density. Their findings were published in the journal Nature on Wednesday.
A previous study that drew on satellite imagery estimated that the total number of trees was about 400 billion. The new estimate of 3.04 trillion is multiple times that number, bringing the ratio of trees per person to 422 to 1.

When outside U.S. controlled areas, eating and drinking in public during daylight hours is against the law.

Gas up the solar plant. Solar plant requires gas. Â Â Solar project in CA only produces less than 1/2 expected.
The $2.2 billion Ivanpah solar power project in California’s Mojave Desert is supposed to be generating more than a million megawatt-hours of electricity each year. But 15 months after starting up, the plant is producing just 40% of that, according to data from the U.S. Energy Department. . .
One big miscalculation was that the power plant requires far more steam to run smoothly and efficiently than originally thought.  That is  according to a document filed with the California Energy Commission.
Instead of ramping up the plant each day before sunrise by burning one  (1) hour’s worth of natural gas to generate steam, Ivanpah needs more than four (4)  times that much help from fossil fuels to get the plant humming every morning.
Another unexpected problem: not enough sun.
Weather predictions for the area underestimated the amount of cloud cover that has blanketed Ivanpah since it went into service in 2013.

The watchdog found that TSA’s failure to identify those linked to terrorism had to do with broader issues.  A major problem is that  thousands of files  have incomplete or inaccurate employee information.
Nearly 87,000 employee  files lacked Social Security numbers.  Social security numbers are not a requirement but isuggested. Thousands of employee files  lacked passport numbers or citizenship information.
In 300 employee files, the individual was identified by a single character. Just one character  instead of a full name.

US Embassy in Jakarta  celebrates the  4th of July on Thursday,  June 4th — one month  early  out of respect for Ramadan,
 Ramadan — a month long period observed by Muslims and Islamic dominant countries — starts June 17. Â
It is a bedrock of Islamic scripture that infidels must bow down in submission to Islam and Muslims. Infidels are  tolerated so long as they endure humiliations and pay a special tax. Just yesterday we learned that matriarch Marion Robinson, mother of Craig and Michelle, admitted with a laugh that she had misgivings about her daughter marrying a biracial man. But, as the New York Daily News sarcastically noted, “it could have been worse.â€
“That didn’t concern me as much as had he been completely white,† matriarch Robinson laughed in the appearance on WTTW’s “Chicago Tonight,â€Â which was scarcely noticed at the time.
