Episcopal church a haven of hope for abused Catholic priest

Former  Catholic priest Fr. Ryan, abused by his mentor and family priest Father Lott,    finds   haven of hope through an Episcopal church in Albany, New York.

Victim-survivors want most of all to be listened to, believed and to hear ‘I’m sorry’ so says Ms Buros with The Independent Reconciliation and Compensation program. These men now 50 and 60 years old  are still crying when they speak of their  abuses says Ms Burros

Twenty years a Catholic  priest,  Steven Ryan-Vutto  left the priesthood  questioning his vocation because of  long term  sexual abuse he had experienced by his mentor and family priest.

He had to speak out as ‘it is something I had to do from the deepest core of my being.’   “I truly  believe  that although it’s going to sully the name of someone a lot of people look up to, it’s truthful… the truth will set you free.’

Abused from the age of 14 by his parish priest — acts of fondling and  sodomy — Steven Ryan-Vuotto  joined the priesthood.  Known as Father Ryan for 20 years, he recently spoke out against his abuser,

Rev. Robert V. Lott   who died in 2002 at the age of 63.  In the early 1990’s Steven Ryan-Vuotto confronted Rev. Lott as part of his therapy.

firenze sage—when is a corn pop not a corn pop? [breakfast cereal]

When is a corn pop not a corn pop?

Kellogg’s will be redesigning Corn Pops cereal boxes after a complaint about racially insensitive art on the packaging.

The Battle Creek, Mich.-based cereal and snack maker said on Twitter Wednesday it will replace the cover drawing of cartoon characters shaped like corn kernels populating a shopping mall. The corn pop characters are shown shopping, playing in an arcade or frolicked in a fountain. One skateboards down an escalator.

What struck Saladin Ahmed was that a single brown corn pop was working as a janitor operating a floor waxer. Ahmed, current writer of Marvel Comics’ Black Bolt series and author of 2012 fantasy novel Throne of the Crescent Moon, took to Twitter Tuesday to ask, “Why is literally the only brown corn pop on the whole cereal box the janitor? this is teaching kids racism.”

He added in a subsequent post: “yes its a tiny thing, but when you see your kid staring at this over breakfast and realize millions of other kids are doing the same…”

Kellogg’s responded to Ahmed on the social media network about five hours later that “Kellogg is committed to diversity & inclusion. We did not intend to offend – we apologize. The artwork is updated & will be in stores  soon.

video game lights replace candles in Aptos, CA catholic church

plastic candles

Video game plastic  lights replace  candles in an Aptos, CA catholic  church.

Will the pastoral candle be next?  How about recyclable  plastic wafers?

When heat is applied to a wick contained in wax a candle lights.  It emits smoke, light and heat.  The smoke rises to the heavens….symbolizing early sacrifices to God.

To replace candles with what amounts to a cheap video game ….  one wonders why?  Bean counters?  Cost? Saving money?

What to do:  Let the congregation decide.  Put the candles next to the video game lights and allow people to vote.

Ask people:   Do you want to punch a plastic button or light a candle?

Hilary Clinton’s chickens come home to roost? Who colluded with who?

Hilary Clinton’s  chickens come home to roost?

Hilary Clinton’s chickens   come home to roost? Who really colluded with whom?

Hilary and the Democrat Party colluded to create fake information [the Trump dossier] which — for the past year — has affected many people’s reputations.

For nearly a year, the media has pounded away on the narrative that Trump colluded and stole the election from Hilary.

Hilary Clinton’s  campaign message  for President  was simple and consistent:   Trump is not fit to serve.

Now we learn via the Washington Post 10/24/17   that  Hilary Clinton  ‘knew’ Trump’ was supposedly unfit because she  and the Democrat Party paid the bill to create  false info about Trump.

Hilary Clinton and the Democratic National Party (DNC) paid $9+ MILLION for Fusion GPS to pay Christopher Steele  to create the dossier on Trump.

What is Fusion GPS?    hiding? Fusion GPS describes itself as a “research and strategic intelligence firm” founded by “three former Wall Street Journal investigative reporters.” But congressional sources say it’s actually an opposition-research group for Democrats, and the founders, who are more political activists than journalists, have a pro-Hillary Clinton, anti-Trump agenda.

“These weren’t mercenaries or hired guns,” a congressional source familiar with the dossier probe said. “These guys had a vested personal and ideological interest in smearing Trump and boosting Hillary’s chances of winning the White House.”

Dirt digging by Fusion GPS:  Fusion GPS was on the payroll of an unidentified Democratic ally of Clinton when it hired  long-retired British spy   Christopher Steele to dig up dirt on Trump. In 2012, Democrats hired Fusion GPS to uncover dirt on GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney. And in 2015, Democratic ally Planned Parenthood retained Fusion GPS to investigate pro-life activists protesting the abortion group.

___________

Take away:  Now we know why Hilary Clinton was so adamant that she ‘knew’ that Trump is unfit to serve.  She ‘knows’ because she paid lots of money to create false  information on Trump  via Fusions GPS.

Next step: Let’s  require Fusion GPS to open up it’s books.  We may learn a lot more about who colluded with whom when that happens.

Like exactly who profited from the sale of 20 percent of USA uranium to Russia when Hilary Clinton was Secretary of State.  Did Hilary  collude?

And,  why now is the Washington Post and its backers willing to throw Hilary Clinton under the bus?  Because she just won’t go away?

evil & history …. students know nothing important some say

Students today know nothing  important some say.

According to Paglia, teachers at elite institutions are unable to see this decline in knowledge because their students often come from private schools and wealthy homes, which presumably still retain some elements of rigorous education.

The great majority of students, however, can be described in the following way:

“What has happened is these young people now getting to college have no sense of history – of any kind! No sense of history. No world geography. No sense of the violence and the barbarities of history. So, they think that the whole world has always been like this, a kind of nice, comfortable world where you can go to the store and get orange juice and milk, and you can turn on the water and the hot water comes out.

“They have no sense whatever of the destruction, of the great civilizations that rose and fell, and so on – and how arrogant people get when they’re in a comfortable civilization.

“They now have been taught to look around them to see defects in America – which is the freest country in the history of the world – and to feel that somehow America is the source of all evil in the universe, and it’s because they’ve never been exposed to the actual evil of the history of humanity. They know nothing!”

Firenze Sage: Rhinos 1 poachers nil [rhino attacks poacher in Africa]

A rhino in Africa  — tracked by a poacher to kill for his horn  — is  alive and well after attacking the poacher.

NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) — A rhino turned the tables on a suspected poacher in Namibia, charging and injuring the man while he was allegedly tracking it.

The incident happened in Etosha National Park after suspect Luteni Muharukua and other alleged poachers illegally entered the wildlife area in hopes of killing rhinos for their horns, The Namibian newspaper reported last week.

The newspaper said the rhino “appeared from nowhere” and quoted Simson Shilongo, a police officer, as saying the rhino inflicted a severe leg injury on Muharukua after he fell while fleeing.

Freedom NOW from ObamaCare!

Freedom NOW  from ObamaCare!

Americans are not stupid. They can  make informed choices.

Let people  choose their doctors and their  health plans.

What to do?  Legalize competition across state lines.  That will drive premium  costs down.

Give  ObamaCare  no money via the  Exchanges.  Let people opt out totally.  Let small businesses create their own collectives. Encourage Health Savings Accounts with families making the decisions how to spend their health dollars.

written by Cameron Jackson

Phil Gramm, Republicans, Stand up for Health Freedom  WSJ, Oct. 19, 2017

“President Trump has now created another such opening for compromise by announcing he will end ObamaCare’s cost-sharing payments to insurers. Without a constant injection of additional money, ObamaCare premiums will spiral upward, and the number of Americans who benefit from the program will continue to fall.

But the initial bipartisan bill, offered by Sens. Lamar Alexander (R., Tenn.) and Patty Murray (D., Wash.), is more of a capitulation than compromise. It resuscitates ObamaCare but hardly provides a fig leaf for Americans who want their health-care freedom back—the very people who elected Republicans.

“Any agreement to restore funding for cost-sharing payments should be tied to provisions allowing families to opt out of ObamaCare and buy coverage that meets their individual needs. The compromise should also grant insurers the right to sell such plans independent of ObamaCare’s rules and its rigged risk pool.

“A money-for-freedom compromise would at last provide an opportunity to debate health-care freedom, something the public was denied by the great ObamaCare lie. If Democrats refuse to allow ObamaCare’s losers to escape in return for funding for the program’s beneficiaries, it will be Democrats who let the program collapse. Throughout the debate they will be forced to argue against the very health-care freedom they falsely promised when they adopted ObamaCare.”

Firenze Sage: Today’s special — clam chowder with methane…. did you know clams contribute to global warming?

Baltic clams and worms release as much greenhouse gas as 20,000 dairy cows

New study shows that oceans with worms and clams enhance the release of methane into the atmosphere up to eight times more than oceans without them

Scientists have shown that ocean clams and worms are releasing a significant amount of potentially harmful greenhouse gas into the atmosphere.

The team, from Cardiff University and Stockholm University, have shown that the ocean critters are producing large amounts of the strongest greenhouse gases – methane and nitrous oxides – from the bacteria in their guts.

Methane gas is making its way into the water and then finally out into the atmosphere, contributing to global warming – methane has 28 times greater warming potential than carbon dioxide.

A detailed analysis showed that around 10 per cent of total methane emissions from the Baltic Sea may be due to clams and worms.

The researchers estimate that this is equivalent to as much methane given off as 20,000 dairy cows. This is as much as 10 per cent of the entire Welsh dairy cow population and 1 per cent of the entire UK dairy cow population.

The printing press solves problems — when you can’t understand your priest or the readers….

Pope Francis greets the crowd at the end of a weekly general audience at St Peter’s square.

What to do?   You can’t understand a word your  priest says? Or you can’t hear what the Readers of the Bible said?

These problems matter.   Some people may stop attending your church. Or revenue may drop.

Face the problem directly.   There are simple solutions!

Use the printing press.  Print the Readings — so if the Reader cannot use a microphone properly  people in the pew  can still hear the message.  They can read it.

And print the sermon.  Yes I know that’s not done.  But it’s time to do it.     If your priest speaks a form of English that is hard to understand — put the sermon (or a short version of it) in the bulletin.  That way people can read the sermon then or later on.

Yes there is a growing problem of people in the pew not able to understand what the priest or readers say.

This is adapted from an article in the  Wall Street Journal titled   I Can’t Understand a Word My Priest Says  written by Marty Sherry, Oct. 05, 2017:

Today around a quarter of Catholic diocesan priests were born outside the U.S., and about 30% of priests ordained in America last year were foreign-born. Why and how did they come?  Some came after learning English as the language of commerce in their native land.  Many see opportunities for ministry in the U.S.  Some come as political refugees. Others find salaries are higher here, enabling them to send money home to support their families.  Still others find that life in the U.S. is just more comfortable.  Most see the U.S. as spiritually  needy — so privledged that its people no longer crave sacramental care.

Can’t understand the priest?   The Readers mumble or cannot use a microphone properly?  Solution:    The printing press!   Many Protestant churches routinely  print the Readings  — that way if a person is hard of hearing or the person reading does not speak clearly the congregation can still ‘read along’ and get the message.

Churches typically do not print the Sermon and include it as part of the Bulletin.  Why not do so?

Let people think about what was said on Sunday.  And for those who cannot understand the accent of the male or female  priest –  or just can’t follow along because of  the length  — there’s hope!  Use the copy  machine.

Firenze Sage: What big teeth you have, grandson …. [unaccompanied ‘children’ to Sweeden

Ah, what big teeth you  have, grandson ….     When   Swedish dental hygienist Herlitz told authorities that supposed  ‘ unaccompanied  migrant children’   were actually adults — based on the development of  their wisdom  teeth  –    he got  fired.

Egor Putilov, a former Rikstag member and political asylum officer for the government’s Migration Board, reports for Samhällsnytt on Oct. 4, 2017 that a dental hygienist made the mistake of informing the Migration Board that the majority of “unaccompanied” child “migrants” in Sweden actually are adults. For that, he was fired from his job and his home is threatened with confiscation.

Bernt Herlitz, now 57, and his wife were trained to become dental hygienists in a three-year course of studies at Umeå University, after which both found employment at the Public Health Service in Visby, Sweden, where many so-called unaccompanied refugees seek dental care.

In July 2016, the couple attended a seminar in Almedalen on how an individual’s age can be assessed by his/her teeth. One of the seminar attendees was Åsa Carlander-Hemingway, a unit manager from the Swedish Migration Board, who told the couple that it is important that all suspicions about the age of “unaccompanied” refugees be reported to the Board.

Herlitz determined that most of the “unaccompanied” child refugees are actually adults. As he put it:

“I would probably appreciate that up to 80% of them were obviously adults. This can be seen, for example, from their wisdom teeth that are fully grown–something that is only seen in adults.“ Two weeks later, Herlitz was summarily fired after 10 years of service at Folktandvården. The reason given was that he had violated patient confidentiality.
