boat wreck and dinner for two

The captain of the Costa Concordia ordered dinner for himself and a woman after the ship struck rocks off Italy’s coast, a cook from the ship told a Filipino television station.

In an interview with GMA Network, cook Rogelio Barista said Capt. Francesco Schettino ordered dinner less than an hour after the accident.

“We wondered what was going on. … At that time, we really felt something was wrong. … The stuff in the kitchen was falling off shelves and we realized how grave the situation was,” Barista told GMA.

Schettino ordered dinner around 10:30 p.m. Friday, Barista said. Authorities say the ship struck the rocks at 9:41 p.m.

Firenze Sage: It gets sillier and sillier … [Couger as name for sports team not OK]

Couger
The Couger name for a sport team is not OK says a school. Why? Because ‘couger’ refers to older women who prefer younger men. Corner Canyon High School hasn’t even opened yet, and it’s already facing controversy.

The new school, scheduled to open in 2013 in Draper, Utah, announced this week that it had chosen its mascot and school colors.

According to KSTU-TV, future students within the school’s boundaries were mailed ballots to vote for the sports teams’ colors and mascot. The colors navy, silver and white were selected and the Charger was named the mascot — the first in Utah to use it.

The Chargers was not the most popular team name with the kids. The most popular name was the Cougars, getting 23 percent of the votes. Other choices included the Chargers, Diamondbacks, Falcons, Raptors, Broncos, Bears and Cavaliers.

But the Cougar was rejected as the mascot.

Why?” Because board members decided it might be seen as offensive to middle-aged women. [For those who are not in the know, a couger is an older woman who gets a younger man.]

Firenze Sage: Our path ahead, beware… [pedophiles protected by Greek govt. as “disabled” but not their victims]

Pedophiles are labeled "disabled persons" by Greek govt.
Pedophiles are labeled "disabled persons" by Greek govt.

The Greek government has just recognized pedophiles as a population of the “disabled,” entitled under law to governmental disability compensation and added to the country’s welfare roll. The children who are the victims of those pedophiles evidently are not.

Pedophiles are not the only folks being added to the growing lists of those who may enjoy free handouts and disability income from the Greek government. (Notice I did not say benefits “paid for by the Greek taxpayer,” since so much of the Greek national budget is not covered by them these days.)

Exhibitionists and kleptomaniacs were also just added to the welfare roll list that already includes pyromaniacs, compulsive gamblers, fetishists and sadomasochists. Under the new Greek “disability” rules and categories, pedophiles will get larger welfare checks than people who have undergone organ transplants. Peeping Toms will enjoy a higher level of support than diabetics.

Aptos psychologist: “30 Rock” star Baldwin defense similiar to Romney on Romney-Care

a simple apology for poor decisions preferable
a simple apology for poor decisions preferable

If you have to wait for a plane that is late 1/2 an hour and then again wait 15 minutes more for take off why of course, if you are a well known star like Baldwin, then you can use your cell phone even when the sign says to turn off all electronic devises.

So says “30 Rock” star Alex Baldwin as he continued to play Words with Friends on his cell phone.

Does this remind you of Romney’s plight? What’s good and OK for my state is not good for the nation so says Romney.

All Romney had to do was admit that Romney-Care was and is a mistake. Instead he continues to defend Romney-Care for his state while opposing Obama-Care for the nation.

With Baldwin we have a star defending his inelegant behavior on Twitter (swearing, locking himself in the bathroom) by blaming 9-11 and a particular stewardess.

Baldwin did not have it in him to make a simple apology to the airline and stewardess. And neither can Romney admit that Romney-Care was and is a mistake. A simple apology for wrong decisions goes a long way.

And now Baldwin’s Twitter account has been deactivated. And Romney’s numbers keep dropping in the polls.

The fault, dear Judas, lies not in the stars but in ourselves…

DrCameronJackson@gmail.com
________________________________

from a news story:

Is Alec Baldwin really sorry for getting tossed off a flight bound for New York?

The “30 Rock” star issued an apology on Wednesday posted on the Huffington Post. In it, Baldwin, 53, apologized to his fellow passengers on an American Airlines flight that was delayed by the actor’s refusal to stop playing a word game on his cellphone.

“It was never my intention to inconvenience anyone with my ‘issue’ with a certain flight attendant,” Baldwin wrote.

The flight attendant in question, however, and American Airlines received no words of apology from Baldwin.

Instead, Baldwin used this post to tell the world how travelling has devolved into an “inelegant” experience since 9/11.

After describing himself as a brand loyal American Airlines flyer for more than two decades, Baldwin shared his observations about the state of the airlines in the United States today.

“It’s no secret that the level of service on US carriers has deteriorated to a point that would make Howard Hughes red-faced,” Baldwin wrote.

Part of the problem, according to Baldwin, lies with fuel costs, labour costs and bankruptcies.

The terrible events of 9/11 have also contributed to this decline.

According to Baldwin, carriers and airports have used 9-11 “as an excuse to make the air travel experience as inelegant as possible.”

Baldwin did, however, take three paragraphs to tell his version of what happened on the American Airlines flight bound for New York.

According to Baldwin, the flight was already half an hour behind schedule at Los Angeles International Airport.

“We proceeded to sit at the gate for another fifteen minutes,” Baldwin wrote.

Baldwin did what “I nearly always have done,” he said. He pulled out his phone, as did other passengers — an act which had never been questioned by any attendants on previous American Airlines. Yet on this occasion, Baldwin claimed he was singled out by a female flight attendant “in the most unpleasant of tones.”

“The lesson I’ve learned is to keep my phone off when the 1950’s gym teacher is on duty,” Baldwin wrote.

Still, the state of air travel today — rather that his contrition — seemed to the bigger concern for Baldwin.

Today, Baldwin wrote, some flight attendants “still have some remnant of the old idea of service.”

The rest “walk the aisles of an airplane with a whistle around their neck and a clipboard in their hands and they have made flying a Greyhound bus experience,” Baldwin lamented.

On Tuesday, Baldwin directed a heated Twitter tirade at the flight attendant for removing him from the New York-bound flight.

Baldwin, a prolific Twitter user, took to the social media site to vent, saying a “flight attendant on American reamed me out 4 playing Words With Friends while we sat at the gate, not moving.”

On Wednesday, American Airlines issued a statement on Facebook but did not mention Baldwin by name.

The company explained the Federal Aviation Administration regulations.

“Cell phones and electronic devices are allowed to be used while the aircraft is at the gate and the door is open for boarding. When the door is closed for departure and the seat belt is turned on, all cell phones and electronic devices must be turned off for taxi-out and taxi-off,” American Airlines wrote.

The company also said that “the passenger” in question refused to comply.

The airline added “the passenger” was “extremely rude” to the flight crew, calling people “inappropriate names” and using offensive language.

Baldwin’s spokesman, Matthew Hiltzik, responded on Wednesday by saying other people on the plane were violating the regulation and that Baldwin was singled out.

“The plane was already delayed half an hour at the gate when Alec was playing ‘Words with Friends,”‘ Hiltzik told The Associated Press. “Other passengers who tweeted flagrantly violated these rules without any repercussions — proving that they were obviously selectively enforced.”

Baldwin made no reply on Twitter Wednesday. His account had been deactivated and all of his previous tweets removed.

According to Hiltzik, the actor was setting aside his Twitter activity to concentrate on “30 Rock.”

Still, some passengers who were on the flight were clearly unimpressed with the actor’s actions, telling reporters later that Baldwin was inconsiderate and delayed the flight.

Those passengers may be more inclined to believe that’s true after reading Baldwin’s apology.

Firenze Sage: Humpty Dumpty revisited …[artificial grass illegal]

Artificial grass now illegal in Glendale, CA
Aftificial grass now illegal in Glendale, CA

The city of Glendale is imposing a ban on artificial grass. Notices are going out to homeowners whose front yards are covered in turf.

Geneva Dotson says she was forced to pay crews $3,000 to rip up her brand new front yard after receiving a notice from city hall.

City officials say the concern is related to the plastic and chemicals used in the artificial turf.

When asked why the fake grass would continue to be allowed in backyards, officials had no answer.

City officials say they plan to press criminal charges against those who do not comply.

Firenze Sage: In case of a [bioterrorist] emergency…[$255+ a pop for untested vaccine enriches Obama donor]

$250+ per shot of for an anti-terrorist vacine enriches Obama donor

The Department of Health and Human Services has signed a no-bid  contract  with Siga Technologies for as much as much as 2.8 billion  dollars’ worth of a high priced drug,  for a terrorism threat that may not exist.

The drug’s effectiveness is unknown because it cannot be tested on humans.  The threat it is intended to counter is an attack based on Smallpox (which has been eradicated and  “is known to exist only in the locked freezers of a Russian scientific institute and the U.S. government.”)

A large stockpile of effective and inexpensive smallpox vaccine already exists. The new drug is intended to be used after exposure to smallpox in the event of a bioterrorism attack.
Even if the threat were real, and the drug actually effective, the expensive (estimated $255 per dose, a price that bears no relationship at all to production cost) stockpile only has a shelf life of 38 months.

By coincidence, Siga is controlled by Billionaire Democrat mega-donor Ronald Perelman.
————————————————————————————————————————————-

So to summarize:  An untested, possibly fatal drug will be bought for billions of dollars from an Obama supporter to fight an unproven threat which will have to happen within 38 months so the drug’s effect, whatever it is, doesn’t expire.

comments from Firenze Sage on article: The Senators Sway
from National Review Online by Andrew L. McCartney April 2, 2011

Do these idiots — Senators McCain, Lieberman and Graham — have any idea of what they are doing?

Obama is astoundingly incompetent.
Who did we ditch Mubarack for? How about another Islamic state. Who are the Libyan rebels? Islamic al Queda. Hillary thinks the Saville suited barbarian running Syria is “a reformer”. Yemen is going fast. And on it goes while Obama is thinking of his next Cairo speech.

article from National Review Online titled: The Senators Sway

Before they wanted to kill Qaddafi, they were celebrating in his tent.John McCain, Joseph Lieberman, and Lindsey Graham are the Senate’s most energetic proponents of sinking the nation ever deeper into the Libyan morass.

In a joint interview on Fox last weekend, Senators McCain (R., Ariz.) and Lieberman (I., Conn.) were breathless in their rendering of the “freedom fighters” and the “Arab Spring” of spontaneous “democracy.” Friday they upped the ante with a Wall Street Journal op-ed, rehearsing yet again what an incorrigible thug Qaddafi is and how “we cannot allow [him] to consolidate his grip” on parts of Libya that he still controls.

For his part, Senator Graham (R., S.C.) told CNN Wednesday that he would like President Obama to designate Qaddafi an “unlawful enemy combatant” with an eye toward legitimizing the strongman’s assassination. He and Wolf Blitzer discussed whether the hit could be pulled off by the covert intelligence operatives President Obama has inserted in Libya. The next day, in his plaintive questioning of Defense Secretary Robert Gates at a Senate hearing, Senator Graham wondered why American air power could not just “drop a bomb on him, to end this thing.”

As a matter of law, Graham’s proposal is ludicrous — no small thanks to federal law that Graham himself helped write, about which more in an upcoming column. What was especially striking about the hearing was the tone of righteous indignation Senators Graham and McCain took in whipping the Obama administration over government blundering.

But what about their own blundering? The senators most strident about the purported need to oust Qaddafi, to crush his armed forces, and to kill him if that’s what it takes to empower the rebels, are the very senators who helped fortify Qaddafi’s military and tighten the despotic grip of which they now despair.

It was only a short time ago, in mid-August 2009, that Senators McCain, Lieberman, and Graham, along with another transnational progressive moderate, Sen. Susan Collins (R., Maine), paid a visit to Qaddafi’s Tripoli compound. If they seem to have amnesia about it now, perhaps that’s because the main item on the agenda was their support for the Obama administration’s offer of military aid to the same thug the senators now want gone yesterday.

A government cable (leaked by Wikileaks) memorializes the excruciating details of meetings between the Senate delegation and Qaddafi, along with his son Mutassim, Libya’s “national security adviser.” We find McCain and Graham promising to use their influence to push along Libya’s requests for C-130 military aircraft, among other armaments, and civilian nuclear assistance. And there’s Lieberman gushing, “We never would have guessed ten years ago that we would be sitting in Tripoli, being welcomed by a son of Muammar al-Qadhafi.” That’s before he opined that Libya had become “an important ally in the war on terrorism,” and that “common enemies sometimes make better friends.”

On and on it goes, made all the more nauseating by the reality that nobody was under any illusion that Qaddafi had truly reformed. McCain made a point of telling the press that “the status of human rights and political reform in Libya will remain a chief element of concern.” Note the gentle diplomatic understatement: Qaddafi is — and was, as McCain well knew — a savage autocrat. Yet this brute fact was softened into “an element of concern” regarding “the status of human rights and political reform.” Pretty sharp contrast from the senator’s sardonic grilling of the U.S. defense secretary on Thursday. The McCain who was face-to-face with Qaddafi was very different from the McCain who today rails about Qaddafi. Back in the tent, none of his concern would dampen the cozy mood. The Arizonan swooned over “the many ways in which the United States and Libya can work together as partners.”

Perhaps Tea Party Patriots hamstrung from robust politcal speech because its a 501c3 charity?

Why give money to a 501c4 charity such as the Tea Party Patriots if they cannot engage in “robust” political speech such as telling President Obama to leave the oval office ASAP and go back to doing a job for which he has competence — not politics, not as President, not as a lawyer, not teaching constitutional law.

Share

Nationally, the Tea Party Patriots is organized a a 501c4 charitable organization. Which means (??) certain regulations apply as to what political activity the Tea Party Patriots can engage in. For sure, taking educating the publicc as to the deficit and taking a stand for reduction of the federal deficit should be OK activities. However — as a 501c3 organized as a charitable organization — The Tea Party Patriots cannot have a bias for or against any individual political campaign. That means the Tea Party Patriots cannot oppose Obama’s 2012 campaign.

So as not to run into the IRE of the IRS, perhaps it’s best that 2-3 families on every block in America organize their individual Block Tea Parties — without any formal mechanism.

Political speech is one of the most protected forms of speech. But, probably political speech — for example, that ObamaCare as preached by President Obama is about as transparent as the Obama and Pelosi are (“we must vote for it so we know what’s in it) is political speech that a 501c3 cannot engage in.

So, is it smart to give money to the Tea Party Patriots when they cannot fully engage in “robust” political speech? Like, telling President Obama, get out of the Oval office and go back to doing whatever you can do for a job! Below are some contact numbers for the Tea Party Patriots. Maybe they have other ideas how to do robust speech against President Obama himself. Remember Rush Limbaugh when he said, “I hope he fails!” Yes I want the Tea Parties activists to say something like that.
