Threat of jehad against vacination teams because polio drops are “poison”.
A cleric in Pakistan’s Punjab province has warned that a jihad would be launched against polio vaccination teams at a time when the World Health Organisation has expressed concern at the emergence of new cases of the disease across the country.
Maulvi Ibrahim Chisti of Muzaffargarh district declared the anti-polio campaign as “un-Islamic” and announced at the local mosque that jihad (holy war) should be carried out against the polio vaccination team. He made the remarks after finding out that a vaccination team had entered Khan Pur Bagga Sher area of Muzaffargarh and asked families to cooperate with the campaign.
The cleric went to the largest mosque in the area and declared that polio drops were “poison” and against Islam, The Express Tribune reported. He warned that if the vaccination team forced anyone to participate in the campaign, then jihad was “the only option”.

Police in Dorchester County, S.C., used a Taser on a nude 80-year-old woman after she allegedly attempted to attack police with her walking stick.
WCSC reports that when police answered a complaint of someone making loud noises in the area, they were met by an elderly woman wearing no clothes on her porch, reportedly hitting the steps of her porch with her cane.
According to police, the woman, who spoke “confusingly,†began to swing her cane at the officers when police tried to take it away from the nude woman. As police continued to talk the woman out of swinging her cane at them, another officer used his Taser on the woman’s back. The woman was immediately transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
When police investigated the area, they discovered that the woman, a former tenant, had broken three windows at the property after the owner attempted to give the deposit back to the woman.
Maine has reversed the damage of ObamaCare. So maybe the rest of the states can avoid going down the ObamaCare path? Romney promises to get rid of ObamaCare on the first day of office. Below article is from the Wall Street Journal.
_______________
“One tragedy of the Affordable Care Act is that we already know what its regulations will do to insurance markets, because the states have been conducting policy experiments since the 1990s. But we also know from the states that the damage is reversible, as shown by Maine’s emerging insurance turnaround.
In 1993, Augusta passed coverage laws that resemble those that ObamaCare is about to impose nationwide: Insurers could only vary premiums within narrow bands regardless of age or health status, a regulation known as community rating. Four of Maine’s five insurers in the individual market stopped offering coverage and fled, and the state entered an insurance “death spiral” in which premiums don’t cover underlying medical costs. That leads to higher premiums, consumers dropping coverage as a result, and still higher premiums in turn.
Then the 2010 electoral wave carried in Republican Governor Paul LePage and a GOP legislature, and they took modest steps to deregulate the insurance market. Insurers are now allowed to sell policies for premiums that range from 3 to 1 on the basis of age, rather than the prior 1.5 to 1, and to offer incentives or discounts for consumers to choose high-value providers.
The state also created a reinsurance fund that taxes all health plans by $4 a month. If someone ends up requiring extremely expensive care, the fund picks up some of the costs, which means insurers can better manage their future liabilities and pass the savings on to individuals.
The returns are now rolling in for the new coverage that can be offered starting on July 1, and premiums are falling by as much as 69% for Maine’s dominant insurer, Anthem.
According to the Maine Bureau of Insurance, a married couple age 40 to 44 with one child will pay $1,919 a month for a policy with a $2,250 deductible in 2013 if they choose to re-up their current policy. If the same family switches to the new health plan, or buys the plan for the first time, their premium will fall to $920, a 52% decrease. A couple over 60 could buy the same policy for $1,290, down from $2,466 under the old system. Or a young adult 25 to 29 could buy a high $10,000 deductible plan for catastrophic expenses for $232, previously $665.
The old and new products are not identical, so the comparison isn’t perfect. On top of the rule changes, the benefits are slightly different, such as separate deductibles for in- and out-of-network services. And many of the year-over-year reductions are less dramatic, in the range of 10% to 20%, while a few older consumers will see rate increases.
Still, any premium decrease is remarkable on the U.S. health cost escalator, which is being accelerated by ObamaCare. Maine consumers who choose to stay with their current policy (same benefits, old rules) will see an average premium rate increase of just 1.7% from 2012 to 2013—compared to an historical trend of about 10%. Some 46% of the existing book of business will see a rate decrease.
The major irony is that Maine’s reform merely brings its community rating rules into compliance with ObamaCare, which is actually less restrictive than the rules the state passed in 1993. The new national health law will block a further Maine liberalization that is due for 2016.
Maine learned the hard way that the most heavily regulated insurance markets are the most expensive. But the more ominous lesson out of Vacationland is for the 33 states that had the wit never to make the Maine-ObamaCare mistake. They’re the ones that are about to see premiums spike under the Affordable Care Act—perhaps by as much as 69%, and likely by far more.
A version of this article appeared May 31, 2012, on page A16 in the U.S. edition of The Wall Street Journal, with the headline: ObamaCare in Reverse.
Soda pop OK if bought before lunch but a huge federal fine if purchased after lunch. This makes no sense except harassment sense.
Davis High School has been fined $15,000 after they were caught selling soda pop during lunch hour, which is a violation of federal law.
The federally mandated law prohibits the sale of carbonated beverages after lunch is served. The program is an effort to help fight childhood obesity and to have young students make better food choices.
The mandate allows for carbonated beverages to be sold before lunch, but restricts students from buying lunch, then purchasing carbonated drinks afterward.
“Before lunch you can come and buy a carbonated beverage. You can take it into the cafeteria and eat your lunch, but you can’t first go buy school lunch then come out in the hallway and buy a drink,†said Davis High Principal Dee Burton.

A college student picked up in a federal drug sweep in California was never arrested, never charged and should have been released. Instead, authorities say, he was forgotten in a holding cell for four days.
Without food, water or access to a toilet, Daniel Chong had to drink his own urine to survive and began hallucinating after three days because of a lack of nourishment, his lawyer said.
“He nearly died,” Eugene Iredale said. “If he had been there another 12 to 24 hours, he probably would have died.”
The top Drug Enforcement Administration agent in San Diego apologized Wednesday for Chong’s treatment and promised an investigation into how his agents could have forgotten about him.

Nude maid service watched closely by police in Texas:
Police in staunchly conservative West Texas city if Lubbock are keeping close tabs on a young entrepreneur’s recently opened cleaning service that offers nude maids.
Lubbock police Sgt. Jonathan Stewart said the owner of Fantasy Maid Service of Lubbock doesn’t have a permit to operate a sexually oriented business and officers are watching for any violation, which would bring a $2,000 fine.
But owner Melissa Borrett insists she’s not operating such a business. Customers pay $100 an hour for one maid or $150 an hour for two maids, and no touching is allowed, she said.
“I run a maid service,” the 26-year-old entrepreneur said. “We really just clean houses. These girls are not performers. They’re maids.

So did someone on the Supreme Court leak to Obama that the Supreme Court might find ObamaCare illegal? If so, was it someone — Kagan — who used to work for Obama?
Federal judges can find Obama-Care illegal says Texas federal Judge Smith in response to Obama’s recent remarks about judicial review. It’s impossible to find ObamaCare’s individual mandate illegal said Obama. Oh?
But federal courts routinely strike down laws as illegal and unconstitutional. Today, Texas federal judge Smith bristles at Obama’s recent remarks on judicial review and that unelected men and women cannot — or should not — decide the fate of Obama-Care.
Texas federal Judge Smith rebuked U.S. Attorney General Holder concerning Obama’s remarks and requested within 48 hours a 3 page single space response concerning Obama’s position on judicial review.
The Supreme Court has always practised deference responded Eric Holder. Sounds like Holder thinks that the Supreme Court is supposed to rubber stamp whatever the Executive branch does.
Some of Texas Judge Smith’s prior rulings: Affirmative Action illegal and unconstitutional at Texas Law School. Obama’s 6 month moratorium on deep water oil drilling was found illegal.
Obama’s remarks — that the Supreme Court cannot decide the legality of Obmaa-Care — show a profound dis-respect for our federal courts and the independence of our three branches of government. written by DrCameronJackson@gmail.com
Conservatives can do things that support getting rid of ObamaCare, Obama’s regulations and Obama’s policies. One way: Read the opposition’s arguments and comment back via blogs and email. This is a comment back on ‘Broccoli and bad faith’ written by Paul Krugman, with New York Times.
Replace broccoli with pork and see what happens to Krugman’s weak argument.
Dear Mr. Krugman: Do you know that …..
1) Americans overwhelmingly dislike 2 to 1 ObamaCare. It was not popular before and overall it is still unpopular.
2) If the Supreme Court throws ObamaCare out entirely, then Congress gets a fresh slate to make health care reform with bipartisan support. Not one Republican voted for ObamaCare. Any change of such massive proportions requires bipartisan support and public input through hearings. Thus, a fresh start is the best way to go.
3) Americans want health care reform that respects individual freedom of religion per the Bill of Rights. Obama recently Jan 20, 2012 told the Catholic bishops there was no waiver for any church organizations. Under Obama-Care, all organizations must provide for free a wide variety of contraceptive choices including abortion, sterilization and birth control pills. Many organizations are affronted at this lack of respect for individual conscience and by the one size fits all approach taken by Obama and his Health Secretary Sebelius.
4) People want & should be able to get individually tailored plans. A gay man does not need or want pregnancy care whereas a gay woman who plans to give birth may. Health care reform must include tort reform to reduce malpractice costs and allow and encourage competition across state lines.
5) If you Mr. Krrugman don’t like Justice Scalia’s comparison of health care with broccoli then how about comparing health care with the purchase of pork? Say there is just one store and it’s located in the middle of a Jewish neighborhood. And Jews don’t eat pork or bacon or products with pork. How long will the store owner offer pork for sale? As the demand is zero he will stop offering it for sale. So when Jews choose not to buy pork in fact their actions make pork unavailable to the few who do want to buy pork.
6) But what if the government requires all stores to offer pork for sale and requires all shoppers to purchase pork no matter what the individual’s religious or culinary habits? When the government can require all to purchase X then the government can require all to also purchase Y and Z.
6) The essence of a legal contract [based on Western laws] is that both parties enter into it voluntarily. But if one side is forced then there is no lawful contract.
7) You Mr. Krugman have got it flat wrong when you say, “people don’t buy health insurance until they get sick…” Wrong. Most people get health insurance as part of their benefits from their employer. Some individuals that work by the hour and have several children will get health care for their children via Healthy Families and other government paid for programs. And, if in CA, via Medical.
Insurance is based on risk. What is the risk of a 20 year old dying from a heart attack compared to a 70 year old? The risk is far less for the younger person and hence the insurance cost is less.
Yes Mr. Krugman, Americans want health care reform. But they do not want ObamaCare. Americans do not want to be told that they must purchase health care insurance or pork or anything for that matter.
In January, 2008, instead of focusing on the weak economy, creating actual ‘shovel ready’ jobs, the huge homes ‘under water’ Obama and Pelosi and the Democrats focused on creating a one size fits all government health care program for all. The priorities of the working American are — and remain — far different from Obama’s priorities.
And what are Obama’s priorities? Giving Russia what it wants concerning missile defense? Protecting ‘green’ energy and choosing supposed winners and losers? Stopping the Canadian- Gulf oil pipeline? Adding 1 TRILLION to the national debt to be paid by our children and grand-children? Stopping all oil drilling in the Gulf even though his commission said re-open bids?
Americans are far smarter than Obama and apologist Paul Krugman think. And yes, health insurance can be compared to the purchase of broccoli or any product. If the government can force you as an individual to buy health insufance, it can force you to buy all sorts of of things.
Way back in 1775, the individual states agreed to create and give limited powers to the federal government. All powers not given remained with the individual states. All powers over the individual citizen [pay a property tax, get a drivers license, pay sales tax] come from the power of the state where you live.
Up until now — except for conscription into the army and serving on a federal jury — the federal government has only limited, specific powers. It has no police powers over any individual. If the individual mandate of ObamaCare is found by the Supreme Court to be constitutional and legal, then the basic relationship between you and your government changes drastically.
So the answer is yes, if the individual mandate is legal then Obama can force Jewish grocery stores to sell bacon and pork and Obama can force all shoppers to purchase bacon and pork.
