Food police in CA win.  Assemblyman Bill Monning, D-Carmel,  introduced legislation to restrict mobile food vending near school campuses. [This bill  id now law.]
The bill prohibits food and beverage vending within 1,500 feet of elementary and secondary school campuses from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on any days schools are in session. It also requires local health agencies to notify mobile food vendors of this restriction.
“The mobile vending of unhealthful snacks like ice cream, chips and sugar-sweetened beverages near school campuses undermines efforts to provide students with the nutrition they need,” Monning said. “At a time when childhood obesity is at epidemic levels, we must ensure that our school environments foster student wellness.”
According to Monning, mobile vending near school campuses creates incentive for students to leave school grounds, which increases their exposure to off-campus hazards such as heavily trafficked streets.

This is bogus on many grounds. Kids leave school at lunchtime anyway. The roach coach is at the curb which is closer than the store down the street. The union workers at the school cafeteria benefit while the non union workers are expelled from business.
1500 feet from any school will encompass most of many cities. And, finally, who appointed Monning as Chief cook? Legislative obesity is a problem so let’s regulate their food.

Another mother with another 4 year old from the same elementary school in North Carolina came forward with a similar story about public schools rejecting home made lunches. The same teacher is involved.
In the story making headlines last week, North Carolina school officials said it was a misunderstanding when a preschooler’s homemade lunch was sent home for not meeting nutritional standards.
In late January, 2012 Diane Zambrano sent her daughter to school with a salami and cheese sandwich on a wheat bun with apple juice. Her 4-year-old daughter, Jazlyn, is in the same West Hoke Elementary School class as the little girl who made national news last week. That child was sent to school with a home made turkey and cheese sandwich.
When Zambrano picked daughter Jazlyn up from she was told by Jazlyn’s teacher that the homemade lunch did not meet the necessary guidelines. Jazlyn was sent to the cafeteria.
The lunch Zambrano’s daughter got in the cafeteria? Chicken nuggets, a sweet potato, bread and milk. “She never eats breakfast or lunch at the school,†said her mother.

A 47-year-old Vacaville, CA man learned Sunday that a jar of Skippy peanut butter is no match for TSA airport security X-ray machine.
The passenger was hoping to leave Oakland International Airport on a Delta Airlines flight to Los Angeles, but he missed his flight. Transportation Security Administration officers found marijuana concealed in a peanut butter jar in his carry-on bag, officials said.
“Drugs aren’t something we’re looking for,†said TSA spokesman Nico Melendez. “The concern here is that peanut butter is prohibited anyway because of the liquid ban. And when we see something in the X-ray hidden in a jar, we need to find out what it is.â€
In this case, it was a small amount of pot, though Melendez did not know the exact weight.
Witnesses said the passenger told authorities he had hidden the marijuana because he didn’t have a medical marijuana card, Melendez said.

Obama-Care’s individual mandate penalties –what you pay if you don’t buy government approved health coverage— are best described as a flying, freebie carrot dispensing machine. With pilot Obama at the controls.
Obama will turn the individual mandate penalties into carrots which he dispenses free to all whom Obama decides cannot afford.
So, remember the motto of the Scouts: Be Prepared! How? Know the history and know what Obama’s next step is likely to be.
History: Is it a fine? At first, the Obama administration defended the Obama-Care individual mandate as a “fineâ€. This argument is weak as the Supreme Court could reject this expansion of the Commerce Clause as without precedent and limitless. If not to act is an act ,what other acts can government demand? That is not a path the Supreme Court is likely to go.
Is it a tax? Currently Obama’s lawyers, now before the Supreme Court, defend the individual mandate as a “taxâ€. And much as people moan about taxes they are commonly viewed an inevitable as death.
But remember Obama’s campaign promise: no increase of taxes for the middle class making less than $250,000. So, Obama needs to call the individual mandate something else.
So Obama will frame the individual mandate as neither fish nor fowl – neither fine nor tax. Then Obama will mandate it as something given free to all whom he deems cannot afford it.
All good things are free according to Obama. Hence, the cost of Obama-Care must be free to those who Obama thinks can ill afford it: youth, those receiving unemployment benefits, Food Stamp recipients, those who pay no federal taxes.

If you are a youth 18-25 and never had a job? It’s free….

Remember that adage? ‘An apple a day keeps the doctor away’? Obama transmogrifies it into,
‘A Chicken McNugget a day keeps the the school food police away’.
Citing ‘nutritional concerns,’ South Carolina school authorities replaced a child’s homemade turkey and cheese sandwich with fried Chicken McNuggets from the school cafeteria.
But what’s in Chicken McNuggets? What percent protein? How much additives? Nobody knows.
Checking McDonald’s web site, there is no information listed as to percent of protein in a Chicken McNuggets. Further, there’s zip info as to percent of added water, sodium phosphates, sugar, wheat and other added ingredients.
So, you got to eat it — but you can’t know what’s in it that you are eating. Is that Obama-Care sense? Yes. There are no U.S. standards as to percent protein in a Chicken McNugget or how much X, Y or Z can be added.
As to other countries: Canada requires that the equivalent of a chicken McNuggets have no less than 12% meat protein when cooked. And, no more than .5% phosphate salts can be added to a Canadian McNuggets
With Obama’s new food standards for schools in place, children are required to eat food such as McNuggets which are of unknown, questionable nutritional value.
Looking at Obama’s actions and not his words, Obama’s motto can be phrased,
‘An illegal act a day keeps the ….. Republicans … Conservatives … Public at bay’.
Obama’s illegal acts include:
On Jan. 4, 2012, without the advise and consent of Congress (congress was in session), President Obama made 4 appointments. Those four appointments by Obama were illegal acts.
In violation of current law — the Religious Freedom Restoration Act signed by Bill Clinton in 1993 — and the Bill of Rights, this last week Obama mandated that religious organizations provide contraceptives without regard to their religious beliefs and practices. Then Obama amended the mandate to require that private insurance companies provide contraceptives for free. Which means that the religious organizations must pay higher premiums.
One hundred years ago, the Girl Scouts of America was founded. And there will be much celebration of this organization rated 8th out of 100+ non-profit organizations. be prepared!
Both the Girl Scouts and the Boy Scouts have the same motto:
Be prepared! And so must all Americans.
Be prepared. Expect that President Obama will commit more illegal acts.
And we must take appropriate, legal actions. One illegal act after another erodes our liberties and freedoms. The Democrat controlled Senate has not passed a budget in three years. That means that the Senate has not done its job.
So, write your congress and complain. Nag them!

Doctors need to be paid appropriately. And our MD doctors are lowly paid by the federal government.
In our area –Santa Cruz County and Monterey County, California — Democrat Sam Farr has failed for 20 years to get appropriate payment for “rural” doctors.
Yet Santa Cruz as a City is rated as one of the most attractive in the nation as artistic and beautiful. Which it is. And Sam Farr for the last three years fully supports Obama-Care. It’s time that California voters in Sana Cruz and Monterey look for better representation. And who might that be?

And God said, Perhaps Man, if you are injured by Barack O’s new Rule, you can go to a Court of Law and sue for standing. Sue for standing as injured party

Oh, Lord, Barack O passed a Rule called the Individual Mandate that all adults must go to a certain place called an Exchange. And all must register. And all must buy a product just because they are alive.
And if they do not buy this product, called health insurance, they must pay a fine. The fine is fairly small, and many people will choose to pay the fine rather than buy the product. But over time there will be no free markets managing the price of this product.
Your son Barack O seeks to enslave your people. He wants your people dependent upon him for their rights.
Instead of the rights of life, liberty and pursuit of happiness coming coming from You, Lord to Man, Woman and Child, Barack O wants all rights to come from him as ruler. And over time your people will become more and more dependent upon Obama and rulers like him.

Trojan Horse Obama-Care Let’s keep focused on the ball: repeal Obama-Care. That is the goal. And all sorts of things will flow from the repeal.
With no Obama-Care the government cannot wipe out private health insurance. With no Obama-Care the takeover of one sixth of the economy ceases.
Remember, Obama-Care — a Trojan Horse in our midst — already spends big bucks.
Who best will slay the Trojan Horse of Obama-Care? Romney the business man who pragmatically solves problems? Romney on the surface talks like a conservative but … Visionary Newt who defended Reagan and his policies on C-SPAN in the early 1980s for hours in the evening with the cameras rolling and nobody except a handful freshman Republicans there? Energetic and no baggage Rick Santorum who socked it to Romney on Romney-Care and who strongly opposes Marxist and socialists world wide?
You got to admit that the MD old man Ron Paul knows from personal experience how government has harmed the practice of medicine. Ron Paul is worth 2-3 million and has zero money in stocks. Paul has his money invested in gold.
So more than likely Paul would support a strong dollar and return to the gold standard. What about a Ron Paul and Rick Santorum ticket?
I live at the beach in Live Oak, CA and am very aware of some of the problems associated with dogs on the beach and understand the concerns addressed in a recent article.
I also believe the incidents are infrequent and in the 10 years I’ve lived here, I have seen a positive change in the attitude of the local dog owner community.
The beach here has long been recognized as an off-leash haven, despite the law, which also prohibits fireworks, littering, glass containers, alcohol and bonfires. I have never seen efforts by the county to monitor activities that include these.
Why punish an entire community of happy frolicking dogs and responsible dog owners for the actions of a few rotten tomatoes? There are other ways to address this issue such as off-leash hours or joining community efforts to promote public awareness and pro-active measures in keeping our beaches and parks clean and safe for everyone.
One such group is Live Oak Beach Club for which information can be found on Facebook.
It’s not unusual to see a group of these local dog owners picking up the trash and broken glass left in smoldering bonfires by drunken revelers from the night before. And no, they don’t leave their waste in bags.

NEW BEDFORD, Mass.— A former dentist in Massachusetts has pleaded guilty to Medicaid fraud. He used paper clips instead of stainless steel posts in root canals.
Michael Clair is scheduled to be sentenced next Monday. He plead guilty last week in New Bedford Superior Court to a variety of charges, including defrauding Medicaid of $130,000 assault and battery, illegally prescribing prescription drugs and witness intimidation. Paper clips which cause pain and infection are cheaper.

Communities switched from NaF — which has a track record of safety — to use of SiFs — which have zero record of safety. Two huge studies of children (280,000 in Mass. and 150,000 in New York state) show elevated iron with use of fluoridated water.
Perhaps communities should use of NaF instead of SiF to fluoridate water? Might safer water remove or reduce symptoms associated with lead poisoning?
