MEXICO CITY (Reuters) – Mexicans who help build U.S. President Donald Trump’s planned border wall would be acting immorally and should be deemed traitors, the Catholic Archdiocese of Mexico said on Sunday, turning up the heat on a simmering dispute over the project.

In a provocative editorial, the country’s biggest Archdiocese sought to increase pressure on the government to take a tougher line on companies aiming to profit from the wall, which has strained relations between Trump and the Mexican government.

“Any company intending to invest in the wall of the fanatic Trump would be immoral, but above all, its shareholders and owners should be considered traitors to the homeland,” said the editorial in Desde la fe, the Archdiocese’s weekly publication.

On Tuesday, Economy Minister Ildefonso Guajardo warned firms it would not be in their “interests” to participate in the wall. But the editorial accused the government of responding “tepidly” to those eyeing the project for business.

A spokesman for the Archdiocese, which centers on Mexico City and is presided over by the country’s foremost Roman Catholic cleric, Cardinal Norberto Rivera, said the editorial represented the views of the diocese.

“In 2007, Rivera Carrera worked to prevent a prolific predator priest from facing justice. He was accused of concealing the dreadful child sex crimes of Fr. Nicholas Aguilar Rivera. The Cardinal did virtually nothing while Fr. Aguilar Rivera traveled between his native Mexico and the Los Angeles archdiocese, molesting kids in both places. Aguilar Rivera’s current whereabouts are unknown and is on Mexico’s most wanted criminal list.

Rivera Carrera  also made the ridiculous claim that there are no “documented” cases of abuse against minors in Mexico.

“It is disturbing that a cardinal who has been charged with covering up the crimes of a child molester, who is completely out of touch with the realities of child sex crimes, and who has not stepped up to the plate to help victims and protect kids is on a another Vatican council.

Former Ohio Democrat Congressman Dennis Kucinich defended President Donald Trump’s claims about being wiretapped by the Obama administration during the 2016 presidential election.

“It’s important because there are people who are saying about President Trump’s claim, ‘Oh, it could never happen.’ Well, frankly, it happened to me,” Kucinich told Fox News on Friday. Also on Friday, the former congressman penned an article on Fox News describing the incident — a phone call in his congressional office from a foreign leader had been tapped in 2011, and he listened to a recording of it in 2015.

“Members of Congress ought to be aware that my experience was that my phone wasn’t safe in a congressional office,” Kucinich, who served in the House of Representatives from 1997 to 2013, said. “Now, if they can do that to a member of Congress, they can certainly do it to a presidential candidate, and they can do it to private citizens as well.”

The former congressman learned that he had been wiretapped two years after leaving office, when he was approached by The Washington Times. “The newspaper’s investigative reporters called me, saying they had obtained a tape of a sensitive telephone conversation that they wanted me to verify,” Kucinich wrote. “When I met them at a Chinese restaurant in Washington, they played back audio of a call I had taken in my D.C. congressional office four years earlier.”Kucinich recalled that the call had been from Saif el-Islam Qaddafi, a high-ranking official in Libya’s government and a son of the country’s ruler, Moammar Qaddafi. “At the time I was leading efforts in the House to challenge the Obama administration’s war against Libya,” the former congressman recalled. “The Qaddafi government reached out to me because its appeals to the White House and the State Department to forestall the escalating aggression had gone unanswered.”

A group of liberal moms at an elite New York City school torpedoed an annual ice-skating party.

Why?  Because Donald Trump rebuilt the  rink in the 1980s.

The picture below shows Trump in 1986 when the Woolman ice-rink in New York Central Park  opened under budget and ahead of schedule.

Trump repaired the ice-rink:  Before Trump took over the project in the 1980s, the Wollman Rink in Central Park was a symbol of government incompetence. The rink’s repairs and renovations went $12 million over budget, contractors botched the amount of concrete needed, and for six years the incomplete rink served as a lightning rod for the press to remind the Ed Koch administration how untamed things were in the city, according to Bloomberg.
When Trump finally took over fixing the Woolman rink in Central Park,  he finished two months ahead of scheduled and $775,000 under budget:

The man who murdered  Kate Steinley  was released from  jail  by the San Francisco Sheriff’s Department and not turned over to federal authorities.

A February 2017  poll shows that Trump has broad public support in his effort to crack down on sanctuary cities.

A recent Harvard-Harris Poll shows  that 80 percent  of voters say  that local authorities should comply with the law by reporting to federal agents the illegal immigrants they come in contact with.

Cities that arrest illegal immigrants for crimes should be required to turn them over to federal authorities

Sanctuary cities receive $2.27 BILLION in federal programs.

A safety issue:   Trump re-framed the issue from a partisan battle to a duty owed to the American people: “When it comes to public safety, there is no place for politics; no Republicans, no Democrats, just citizens, and good citizens,” he said. “We want safe communities. We demand safe communities for everyone.” Voters will want to know why their mayor sides with the illegal alien killer over a victimized American family.

About 300 sanctuary city jurisdictions operate in the U.S. where state or local officials refuse to cooperate with federal law enforcement officers and make it difficult for them to apprehend illegal aliens caught committing a crime.

Santa Cruz CA is a sanctuary city. Law enforcement officials in Santa Cruz claim that the community is safer by not reporting illegal immigrants to federal authorities. Recently 13 members of  M-13 gang were arrested in Santa Cruz by federal  authorities in cooperation with local authorities.

The Trump plan includes an expansion of the “287(g) program” — named for the section of federal immigration law that enables DHS to deputize state and local law-enforcement officers to enforce the laws as if they were federal immigration agents.

The latest example features Ibtihaj Muhammad, the New Jersey native who recently became the first female Muslim-American to win an Olympic medal for the United States.

Here’s a transcript of what Muhammad told Popsugar’s Lindsay Miller on Feb. 7 about the alleged incident with customs agents [emphases added]:

Popsugar: Do you know anyone who was directly impacted by Trump’s travel ban?

Ibtihaj Muhammad: Well, I personally was held at Customs for two hours just a few weeks ago. I don’t know why. I can’t tell you why it happened to me, but I know that I’m Muslim. I have an Arabic name. And even though I represent Team USA and I have that Olympic hardware, it doesn’t change how you look and how people perceive you.

Unfortunately, I know that people talk about this having a lot to do with these seven countries in particular, but I think the net is cast a little bit wider than we know. And I’m included in that as a Muslim woman who wears a hijab.

Journalists were so eager to virtue signal their outrage and despair over this supposed injustice that Time, the UK’s Independent, the Daily Mail, the New York Daily News, The Hill, and of course Sports Illustrated and ESPN all spread the story far and wide before verifying it. Specifically, they should have double-checked whether she was detained after Trump’s travel ban went into place, after Trump was inaugurated, or perhaps while Obama was still president.

As it happens, according to Muhammad herself, her purported “detention” took place in December while Obama was still president.

Illegal immigration:  The travel plans of over 700 were disrupted  this last week by ICE.

In LA, bad dudes — largely felons —  from 12 countries  were arrested by federal government on immigration violations.

These are bad men, largely felons:   Of the 160 arrested in Los Angeles, CA about 150 had criminal histories, while five more had either been previously deported or had “final orders of removal”. Many of those arrested had prior felony convictions for “serious or violent offenses” including child sex crimes and assault.

The arrestees in the LA area  – which were 95 percent male – included nationals from a dozen countries, according to ICE.

NAACP gives then takes away support for Sessions as AG

tim-scott-south-carolinaThe NAACP gave Jeff Sessions an award in 2009.  In an about face, the NAACP opposed Jeff  Sessions for Attorney General.  Why the turn about?

Of note,  for many years the NAACP supports the teacher unions and is opposed to vouchers for black children.

Why would an organization  such as the NAACP — long known as as advocate for blacks — oppose education  choice for black parents?

Sessions was  recently confirmed by the Senate as attorney general.

Senator Lindsey Graham who spoke in Sessions behalf, showed  the award which the  NAACP gave Jeff Sessions in 2009.

Nordstrom’s claimed that the Ivanka Trump brand wasn’t performing well, but industry insiders tell Breitbart News that’s just not accurate. Nordstrom’s decision to mislead the public on why they are stopping carrying the Ivanka Trump brand is part of the fury out there among its longtime customers, who tell Breitbart News they’re cutting up their Nordstrom’s cards and won’t shop at the store anymore. Some even say they plan to return all their recent purchases.
